Athletics Tasmania have launched Tasmanian Athletics Historical Results, a comprehensive history of athletics in Tasmania.
Several of our club members feature prominently among the many lists of results & statistics available, none more so than Hamish Peacock. Hamish is top of the list for most championship wins in a single event, with 15 titles in the Open Javelin event. Michael Mullarvey’s long career is acknowledged in the longest career with medals list. Michael first found himself on the podium in the Open Javelin in the 1988-89 season, where he won a bronze behind Rod McCafferty and Combined Event champion Todd Apted. Fast forward some 31 years to the 2019-2020 season, and a Michael again collected the bronze in the Open Jav, this time behind good friends & club mates Hamish & Huw Peacock.
The lists on the website are comprehensive and a must read for all lovers of the sport. Many people contributed to the publication, led by principal researcher & athletics guru Brian Roe. While the lists are almost complete, there are some results missing, in particular from the 1990 – 2000’s. If you are able to fill the the blanks in any area, please contact Brian Roe with details at brian.roe@worldathletics.org
